why i love nerdy things

growing up, i did not have friends. later in life i would find out this was due to being undiagnosed autistic. BUT!! when i was younger, my solace was found in books, video games, movies, tv shows, and learning about the world around me. i was on the internet early and i've been partaking in fandom culture since i was 12 years old. i've also always had a niche in history and science, so i would watch lots of documentaries. some of my favorites were on ancient architecture and weather patterns. as i got older i was able to make friends, but i never lost my passion for media and fandom. now, as a 19 year old college student, i share with the rest of the world the culmination of my knowledge.

psst!! a lot of these shrines will be derived from my own experiences with the topic. i also like talking about the history of my interests.

cringe culture is dead!!

the best best best way to indulge in and engage with your interests is to put aside the concept of "cringe culture". literally NO ONE cares if you like anime or video games or collecting taxidermy or learning about medeival torture methods. put aside any notion of letting others' opinions influence you, i pinky promise it will help sooo much. go to that convention, cosplay that character, make that ita bag, indulge in yumeshipping, collect figures, just do what makes you happy!! the right people will absolutely love and support you in your interests (and in turn, you have to be able to love and support others in their interests, even if you personally don't like them). practice the art of not giving a fuck, pleaseeeee it will do you so much good.
